Greetings from my cage.
Well, I’ve nothing much to say in this email....
Nothing much happens in October. Kind of a shit month really. You could scroll down and see if I say anything more interesting but I really don’t. And I get a bit preachy at the end.
But Rob, Where the fuk is March of Magnus?
Did you not get my last update? I’ve had it with the fuken thing. I’d much rather work on something else.
So I’ve decided to release it.
I don’t know. Um, lets say, it’ll be out on the 22nd of October. Yeah, why not?
Anyway, buy The March of Magnus. Read it and kindly throw up an honest review if you can. A minute of your day make a world of difference .Tell your friends. Scream about its greatness. About my greatness. Make sure you tell them about my greatness.
Right, I’ll be serious for just a moment.
Despite my awesomeness, I live and die by your praise, love, thoughts, comments and wonderful feedback.
I cannot express my gratitude for all the amazing messages (not the threatening ones about deadlines) that I have received these last few years. (Aw prairie shit, even the threatening ones.) I have laughed, I have been moved, and I have felt myself blessed by the absent gods themselves.
A writer's life is richly rewarding but incredibly nerve wracking. Especially knowing that once I release this book its no longer mine to have an opinion on, but yours.
When I wrote and released Spark City, it was to no one and for quite a long time it remained to ABSOLUTELY no one. So attempting to stay afloat as the crushing bills came in I took a different approach to writing. The Little Book of Lies being the first and then The Dellerin Series. A darker fantasy series which is as far from Spark City as I could get. Truthfully, the Crimson lunatics are still my favourite characters to write (and they are gathering a nice little cult following #NatteoForTheWin) but their day will come once I finish this Spark City cycle.
For the past while I have received a number of messages begging me not to do a GRRM or a Rothfuss on it and I’m honoured to be mentioned alongside them for they have influenced me so heavily. Those messages have stuck with me. Terrified me in fact, but I will endeavour to make you guys happy.
So with that in mind, I’m happy to confirm I'M ALREADY 6 CHAPTERS INTO BOOK THREE OF THE SPARK CITY CYCLE - THE OUTCASTS.
A surreal experience without learning what you guys think of March of Magnus yet.
Also, what did I do about 12 hours after I started work on The Outcasts?
I shattered my fingers.
Yep, I did it saving a bunch of puppies, who through no fault of their own, ended up enlisting themselves in a thunderdome battle royale with a pack of feral kittens in my neighbourhood. It was Tuesday’s battle royale so the kittens were really up for it. This whole covid thing has brought out the crazy in the animals. So, yeah, I saved them all and definitely didn’t fall down my stairs for a second time. Typing with one hand has not been fun.
Stay safe,
AND WEAR A FUKEN MASK EVEN IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE IN COVID-19 . THIS IS A TIME WHEN THE SIMPLEST GESTURES CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. YOU CAN STILL GIVE OUT ABOUT CONSPIRACIES AND THAT IS AWESOME FOR YOU BUT JUST TAKE A MOMENT AND RISE ABOVE YOUR OUTRAGE AND BE KINDER TO THOSE WHO DO BELIEVE. EVEN IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE!
Sorry, my caps lock got stuck there for a moment.
Stay safe my wonderful sycophants.
I’m heading back to my cage.
Rob.
